John Krasinski wouldn’t have made it to ‘The Office’ without his mom’s advice

While John Krasinski is an A-list actor and director now, when he was younger, he was just about ready to quit acting before he’d even begun.

The actor shared the story of the rocky start to his acting career with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday’s The Late Show, stating that he owes a lot to his mum. 

“If you don’t have a nibble or a bite in two and a half or three years, you have to make me one promise (…) You have to pull yourself out, because as your mother you can’t ask me to tell you to give up on your dream,” Krasinski’s mum told him. 

A couple of years later, Krasinski was working as a waiter in New York. He was about ready to stop chasing his acting dreams. 

“And she said, wait it out (…) Don’t give up just yet,” Krasinski said. 

“And three weeks later, I got The Office.”
